SiMuCOR's Mission
Statement
Our Goals:
-
To coordinate monthly planning and discussion meetings.
-
To coordinate eight annual semi-public sabbats open by invitation.
-
To provide informational support
-
To provide peer support.
Our Principles:
We are people capable of
achieving goals in common, regardless of personal differences in
belief or practice. We recognize that there is strength in both
unity and diversity. We recognize that cooperation and
communication are difficult but worthwhile goals in themselves.
Background
SiMuCOR came into being in the autumn of
2003, and our first monthly first monthly meeting took place in Orillia,
Ontario in March of 2004. Our founding members came
from a number of traditions of the Old Religions including Wicca,
Asatru, Pagan Eclectic, and the Celtic paths. Since then, we
have grown to include members with interests in even more diverse
paths.
Since our early days, we have provided rituals,
workshops and information to those who wish to learn, celebrate
and socialize with others of like-mind in a secure and friendly
environment.
SiMuCOR is run entirely by volunteers who
support the vision of a strong local pagan community. Our
board is elected each year and holds meetings every month that are
open to all of our members.
SiMuCOR's pride and joy are our 8 seasonal
rites that follow the pagan wheel of the year.
Outdoors from Beltane to Samhain, and indoors for Yule, Imbolc, and
Spring Equinox, these gatherings usually consist of a ritual, a
feast, and very often, drumming.
