June 2011
Remember
to scroll right down to the bottom of the page as there may be more
than one event scheduled for the month.
Please note that at
SiMuCOR we don't hold much with the notion of "PST" (Pagan Standard
Time). People arriving late can be very disruptive to rituals.
We ask that you make an effort to arrive well ahead of the posted
start time for the ritual.

It is at this time of
the year that the divine couple – the Lord and the Lady –
are at the peak of their power. The Goddess has grown a
beautiful garden that is full of promise. The God’s solar
and green attributes merge into one as he becomes the
protector and the caretaker of the land. It is now that
those land energies flow to their peak of power – only then
to recede as Midsummer passes.
At the Summer Solstice we celebrate the longest day and
shortest night of the year. In ancient times it was
considered a time to celebrate the fullness of life and the
bountiful year. Not much has changed today. Today, we see it
as a time of vacations, play, celebration, and barbecues
with family and friends. With the longer days we are given
time to enjoy the sun in all its radiance and to soak in its
warmth.
The ritual theme of this year’s celebration is based on the
nineteenth card of the tarot – The Sun card – a card whose
meaning centres on the blessings in our lives. One may think
of the Sun card as the clouds lifting and opening us up to a
new day or new beginning. But as the nineteenth card in the
Tarot, we are reminded that our work is not as yet complete
and that we should focus to make our will manifest in this
world. We will do this with the lighting the Midsummer
bonfire as the principal focus of our celebration, where we
will call on the powers of the Djinn to grant us our wishes
and desires. |

What to
Bring: |
-
There will be a meditation during ritual
which can be done sitting or standing, so bring with you
any chairs, pillows or blankets that you may need.
-
Think about a wish that you would like to
have granted. For example, some may wish for financial
stability, while others might wish for health, love,
faith, happiness, friendships, family, blessings, fun and
abundance. It is really up to you.
Remember too to bring feast food to share with others.
If you wish to camp over on our site with us on Saturday
night, bring you tents, sleeping bags, instruments, and
weather appropriate clothing. |
